From Risk to Resilience: Why Third-Party Risk Management Is Pharma’s Biggest Competitive Advantage
Published by Eunomia Pharma Services · Updated
Why does third-party risk management matter for pharma expanding into Europe?
Because responsibility does not transfer with outsourcing. Distributors, agents and vendors make market entry possible, but obligations under national transparency rules, the ABPI and EFPIA Codes, GDPR and anti-bribery law stay with the company. Without structured oversight, third-party execution can drift from company standards.
Building third-party oversight
- Risk-rate third parties by country, activity and interaction with HCPs.
- Carry out proportionate due diligence before onboarding.
- Include compliance, audit and termination clauses in contracts.
- Monitor higher-risk third parties after onboarding and capture their transfers of value.
The practical steps above are Eunomia’s operational guidance. See the source notes below for the scope of the external references.
