Beyond the Checklist: How Gap Analysis Strengthens Healthcare Compliance Internal Audits
Published by Eunomia Pharma Services · Updated
How does gap analysis improve a healthcare compliance internal audit?
Gap analysis compares the controls a company needs with what its teams actually do. An internal audit can use it to test selected activities, examine evidence and prioritise weaknesses rather than only confirm that policies exist. Findings should connect to a specific risk, an accountable owner and a follow-up check. The scope here is commercial healthcare compliance, not a substitute for a GxP inspection programme.
Questions to test an engagement from start to finish
- Was the purpose recorded and the activity routed to the appropriate reviewers before it began?
- Do the contract, approved scope, payment and evidence of delivery agree with one another?
- Were exceptions recognised, explained and escalated to the right decision-maker?
- Can the team demonstrate that corrective actions addressed the cause, using a follow-up sample or other evidence?
The practical steps above are Eunomia’s operational guidance. See the source notes below for the scope of the external references.
